Beaches, sunshine and good times.. Must be Nice.

We are currently sitting in terminal 2 at the Nice airport. We just found out we are only allowed to sleep like a bum in terminal 1, ergo, we have to lug our pounds of luggage back to T1 (where we originally came from) by 12:30 and then back to T2 by 4:30am! So far we have only been lost a few times on this trip, but we enjoy the challenge.
We are quite sad we have lost one key member to the triad, as Ana is going to embark on her own adventures until we meet again in Amsterdam. Seeing as she was our tour guide/map extraordinaire, we are going to have to step up our game. Challenge accepted. Safe travels and have a wonderful time with your family!
We had a great few days in Nice. The first day we went down to the old town area and it was utter chaos because of Tour de France. We managed to see some of it, which entailed hearing the crowd cheer from down the road, followed by a steak of helmets, and a missed photo. Let's just say we enjoyed being a part of Tour de France. The same day we climbed up to a lookout that looked over all of downtown Nice and the  Mediterranean ocean. I don't think any of the pictures will capture how incredible it was.
We finished off our night at the hostel for some causal wine and chats with the other travelers.
We got up early, had breakfast (We didn't realize how many cereals one place could have), and took off to Monaco for day. Monaco was beautiful, but not very accommodating to English-speaking tourists. This is another reason why you should learn the local language before leaving on your trip. We left our celebrity status at home, so we weren't allowed into the Monte Carlos casino, but the lobby looked lavish from what we saw. We tried to see the Japanese Gardens, but somehow seemed to miss the signs and ended up back where we started. We went to a palace on top of a bluff (By chance, because the locals misdirected us.. again.. I think they are doing this on purpose). We then headed back towards Nice stopping at Cap D'ail, a beach with caves on either side.
It was a beautiful day at the beach until the loss of the sun and incoming ferocious waves forced us to trek back up the 90 degree vertical hill that we earlier climbed down. Had to give a standing ovation to our bus driver after shimmying between a stone wall and a bus, while going around a hairpin turn. All in all, a great day!
Today, our last day in Nice, we decided to tour around the local shops, and enjoy the comforts of the fist-sized pebbles digging into our backs. Had our final lunch, and headed back to the hostel to finish packing.
Here we find ourselves at the airport for 9 hours waiting for our flight to Paris in the morning. We plan to keep ourselves busy  by, writing this epic blogpost, scrawling some postcards, having some quiddler matches, eating every morsel of food in our backpacks (including the pulverized breadsticks that have been packed around in our bags), and catching up on the celebrity gossip, as well as some sleep.

Goodbye Nice it's been nice. Looking forward to a picnic in front of the Eiffel Tower and a causal wine-tasting tour.

Until next time,
Renée and Sarah
